I made this rather dark arrangement of this beautiful song written by Mordechai Gebirtig. Gebirtig wrote it for Molly Picon, Yiddish Film and Theater star when she toured Poland in the early 1920's.

One of my favourite musical discoveries in a while. These musicians are seriously talented. I can’t help imagining that there would have been a whole significant subculture of Yiddish psych rock like this in a different, kinder universe. For now, this is a window into that world that might have been. And I love every second of it. Audrey

This is a richly layered composition- the music is wonderful- and the texts really work well with it. It feels like it's pushing Yiddish music forward while staying connected to the past. I don’t have the gift of prophecy so I can’t predict the future- but I would not be surprised if years from now this will cunt among the classics of the repertoire of Yiddish music. Shamma Boyarin
